Free Walk in Venice

FAQs - Free Walk in Venice

The free English or Italian language tour is a non-profit initiative, organized by professionals  who love Venice. We would like to give a warm welcome to everyone is curious to visit our beautiful city and meeting new friends from all over the world. We would like to make you feel as if a friend of yours is showing you around but this time that friend had much more time to prepare and has actually done that before.

FREE WALK IN VENICE is a completely independent non-profit organization that runs by donations. It's not the government or the municipality, neither some huge corporation. If you like the tour, you can also leave a donation at the end of it, as well as through bank transfer. Since we have many great ideas for new projects that we want make in Venice, to find sponsors who would commit to support us long-term. Thank you in advance for all the support!

Check out more info about our volunteers on Team page. They have lived in the city most of their lives and would be able to tell you things about Venice that you cannot find in any travel book. They know plenty (if not all) about Venice curiosities and would also be able to help with any general or practical questions you have regarding your stay in our city.

Our FREE WALK IN VENICE covers the many sights in the city center, allowing you to know the authentic side of Venice, a sightseeing walk through narrow streets and canals, beautiful campi (not squares!) with their palaces, wells and symbols. We will help you to know areas of Venice less frequented by tourists and more authentic in contrast of the classic tourist routes. Please keep this into consideration to plan your time in Venice at best!

We kindly ask you to keep into consideration that Venice can be a maze for not locals. Please, try to reach the meeting point 10 minutes before the tour starts to complete the check in procedures because the tour will start on exact time. We also recommend checking with your concierge or online (Google Maps) how much time you need to make it to the tour on time and allow some extra buffer time, because it’s really easy to get lost in Venice... without us! In case you still miss us, unfortunately there is no possibility to join the group later, just the following available day!

You might wanna give us heads up writing on our email. This way we may be able to get more people to show you around and provide much better experience for you and your friends. If you need a different starting time and you want to book a private tour contact us sending an email to: freewalkinvenice@gmail.com

We use to walk a lot trying to show you as much places as possible in few time but we do it with quite a relaxed pace so you shouldn’t worry.

As long as they can keep up with the group, they are more than welcome. Just keep in mind that Venice is not very baby-transport-friendly - a lot of bridges. But we are all involved in educational activities in museums, so we know how to let our tours available also for them!

Unfortunately Venice is not very wheelchair-friendly, either - lots of bridges, not a lot of facilities for wheelchairs. You can contact us for private accessible tours sending an email to: freewalkinvenice@gmail.com

Don't worry about that. Just please let us know so that we don't think you got lost or something. Besides, you can also join the rest of the tour some other time.

The tour is not that long and we usually stop for breaks only as an exception. There are a couple of places where you can take a seat while listening to our stories, also a couple of taps with drinking water and some options for a toilet. Please let us know if you have to make a stop but keep in mind that we cannot keep the whole group waiting too much.

Yes, booking is mandatory.
